I picked up this Kaleideoloop on Craigslist this past Sunday, and is one of the most fun sounds toys I have purchased in a long time.
I have been scouring eBay and Craigslist for the Critter and Guitari video scope and the Kaleidoloop always caught my eye. When this popped up on Craigslist, and I learned it was sold out on the Critter & Guitar website, I decided to go for it. I am wondering if they are going to make any more of these in the future, if they are developing a 2.0 version, or if the Organelle is the replacement.
In my obsessive pre-purchase research, there were a few negative comments, but that didn’t stop me. It is not possible to make a device which makes everyone happy. The only way you will find out if a tool works for you is by trying it out for yourself. If you buy this thinking it is going to sound better than an audio recording on your computer or your phone, you will be disappointed. The Kaleidoloop makes sound recordings that might be imitated, but not reproduced. Even if you can reproduce the sound quality, it won’t be nearly as fun as it is to create it on a Kaleidoloop.
